The FSJ is not just about working in a place of assignment.
Volunteers get 25 days of education (=Bildungstage, seminars) throughout their FSJ.
Despite not taking place at the place of assignment, time spent on days of education is regarded as being part of your working hours.
The employees of the agency organize the seminars.
Volunteers do not have to pay for these days of education.
The seminars take normally place in hostels or conference centers, where a group of young volunteers gather for a week at a time. Topics discussed are often related to your area of voluntary work, but the seminars are no “traditional school” but offer workshops, practical exercises, outdoor experiences etc.
And you get to know many interesting people: other volunteers, workshop leaders, employees of the agency.
